RTW: Pinspiration

Road Trip Wednesday is a ‘Blog Carnival,’ where YA Highway’s contributors post a weekly writing- or reading-related question that begs to be answered. In the comments, you can hop from destination to destination and get everybody’s unique take on the topic.

We’d love for you to participate! Just answer the prompt on your own blog and leave a link — or, if you prefer, you can include your answer in the comments.

This Week’s Topic:

When you need creative inspiration, where do you go?

When I’m in the middle of a project, I usually go inside my mind.

Which can look like anything, from this:

Ahhhhh.

To this:

More than a wee bit crazy. And of course, heavy machinery’s usually involved.

But since I’ve been gearing up for the past few months to write high fantasy (yikes!), I’ve turned to more external sources. Well, really just one in particular: Pinterest!

So what kind of inspiring imagery have I discovered? Here’s a sampling:

Oh, crap, how’d that get in here?

What about you? Where do you turn when you need a little inspiration?

  1. Pinterest is addictive… Though I usually wind up in the recipes section drooling over all the cuisine I’ll never actually bother to try making instead :) but apparently I should follow you! Those pics are gorgeous…

    • Oh, I know! I have 11 macaroni and cheese recipes pinned … and I’ve never made a single one of them! Last fall, Saturday nights were Pinterest Nights; I would make dinner from a Pinterest recipe. I need to resume that tradition–so fun. And yummy. Feel free to follow! And I’ll follow you back.

      Thanks for the comment!

  2. Haha! Great pictures—both funny and pretty. :) Pinterest is very helpful for me too, but I have to limit myself. I hit that more pins button WAY too many times and before I know it half my day is gone. Music is a big one for me too.

  3. I use Tumblr pretty much the same way you use Pinterest. I have a few space blogs I follow, and a few friends who reblog lots of stunning landscape shots, and it is inspiration ahoy all the time!
