Now Let’s Talk Goals

Ahh, the beginning of a new year. A time for reflection and goal making. Yep, I’m not a resolutions girl. I make goals. I’ve been thinking about what I’d like to accomplish this year, and think I’ve got it figured out. But this year, I’m going to do things a little differently … I’m going to make my writing goals one quarter at a time.

-Finish the first draft of THROUGH CLOUDED EYES. I’m currently at 30k of a projected 80k. Totally doable.

-Decide what to do about the currently-drawered ILLUMINATE THE NIGHT. I love that book and I believe in it, and I need to figure out its future.

-Get a rough draft of my publishing plan. More on that later.

-Decide about my super secret idea. Obvs, more on that later.

-Blog every week. Start blogging about mental illness too.

Some non-writing-related things I want to do this year:

-Send birthday cards. I’ve never really done this, but I want to change that. Because everyone likes real mail.

-Cook dairy-free, grain-free dinners. The Mister is mostly paleo for bike racing, so I’d like to make dinners we can eat together as a family. And it’s good to end your day with a healthy meal.

-Get back into couponing. I’m actually starting that this week!

-Budget on a weekly basis. Gulp.

What about you? Have you set any goals or resolutions for the year? Anything you want to accomplish?

Manage time more wisely. Seeing as this is such a general statement, without any actionable specifics, it is likely I have already wasted time in just writing it. But, I felt compelled to comment. Maybe I should set a goal to resist compulsive posting unless there is substantive purpose.

Excellent goals, lady! I have gone back and forth so many times on couponing. I love it but I’m not organized enough to keep it up. You go! I can’t wait to hear about your super secret idea and your publishing plan! I read your last post, too. Yours is the second blog this week that I’ve read in which a person has dealt with a tough year mental-health-wise. I’ve been there, too. I think that it’s so awesome of you to blog about it because, not only is it hopefully cathartic for you but I can guarantee it is helpful to someone else out there in the blogosphere.

    Here’s to a fantastic 2015!

Great goals! So curious about your secret idea… Hmmmm….

You’re kind to go partially dairy and grain-free with your husband, even for one meal a day! I was dairy-free while nursing and even when he had the dinners I prepared, he often followed up with ice cream or milk or something. *Waves fist*

My goals this year are to cultivate more calm in my life, work more diligently toward my goals, and have the courage to pursue things even when they give me that anxious pit in my stomach (or maybe ESPECIALLY when it gives me that feeling). Not exactly measurable, but I like that they are things I can continue to strive for without the threat of total failure, haha…

      Measurable shmeasurable. ;)

I went dairy free while nursing too … for all of two weeks. And then I was like, “This sucks,” and just embraced Turbo’s gassiness. Also, I only nursed for not-quite 3 months, so … basically I’m a wimp. ^_^
